I admire people who work in hospitality. Especially those behind the wheel - people who run hotels, manage bars and restaurants, have a travelling pop up kiosk with delicious and so needed hot dogs down the street. I believe that in the end of the day, the intent is to give - give a warm welcome, treat with delicious food and beverage, and provide with a night time shelter to the random encounters.
When it comes to interior design, it is up to the host though, what experience you shall encounter. My take is that a strong concept and some bold ideas will leave a memory, impression, and a saved mark on google maps. However, if not in moderation, brave design decisions can be distracting. And you want to make sure that your guests feel at ease, while on the premises. In order to create an appealing atmosphere and look inside your bnb, cafe or whatever that might be, you need to get an advice from a professional interior designer. Your presentation pays dividents too.
Long gone are the times when having a sophisticated menu was enough to bring the crowd into a restaurant. With a surge in home cooking, super picky ingredient quality preferences, and those tons of recipes available in two clicks online, everyone deems to be be a master chef every other Friday. Your competitor is called Indesit, is 3’2” feet tall, and does not ask for a tip in the end of a good meal. As for the hotel industry, the rise of Airbnb proves that people prefer a cosy, home resembling experience to a standard neutral looking bedroom. The point is that you need to stand out, to have that one thing that will differentiate you from the guy or lady next corner.
